Hi,

In this page I will talk about the reverse engineering process for the Isolated Gate Driver. This module was given to me by a friend. I suspect that this module came from UPS.

Introduction

The gate driver is a circuit that controls the Mosfet's gate and ensures that it will operate correctly in high frequency. This circuit offers the following features:

  • Isolated open loop DC-DC converter power supply circuit to power the isolated section (This is useful for driving high side Mosfets).
  • Controlling the Mosfet with isolated gate driver HCPL-3120.

These features keeps the microcontroller safe from high voltage.

I have used a graphical tablet for this process and Microsoft Whiteboard, this made this process easy.
